Thunderbolt Memorial

 Farmington Memorial Town Forest

Red Oak Hill Road, Farmington

The Memorial Forest was created through donations by several Farmington land owners in memory of those who lost their lives during World War I.  On April 11, 1945, 2nd Lt. Vincent H. Core died crash-landing his P-47 Thunderbolt plane in this then remote area, courageously avoiding residential neighborhoods.
