Effective January 1, 2025, (Public Act 23-111, SB 201) all Trade Names issued prior to January 1, 2025  will renew December 31, 2029. The filing fee will be increased to $20.00 and will be valid for five years. A new, standardized application form will be used. There will be a renewal and a cancellation process at a cost of $20.00 each. 

State of Connecticut Statute Section 35-1(a) requires any person doing business in Connecticut, except as provided by statute, under any name other than the name of the person or persons conducting or transacting such business, must register a Trade Name certificate with the Town Clerk's office in the town where the business is or is to be conducted or transacted. Trade Name certificates are available at the Town Clerk's office. The fee for filing a Trade Name certificate is $10.00.
