Farmington Social Services (FCS) provides a variety of social service programs for its residents who are experiencing financial, physical and psycho-social hardships.  Social workers are available to assess needs, advise on available options, provide referrals and support and serve as an advocate.  Social Workers on staff are available for crisis intervention.

Prudence Crandall Center

Prudence Crandall Center is a leader in our state’s efforts to reduce the devastating impact of domestic violence in the lives of victims, their children, and our community. Today PCC is one of only a few programs in the country offering the full spectrum of shelter, housing and support services needed to offer practical, long-term solutions to the challenges faced by victims, helping them heal and move forward to safe, self-sufficient lives, free of violence. 

CT Safe Connect

Safe Connect is a project of the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence (CCADV) that was developed as a way to make it easier for victims of domestic violence to access information, resources and assistance. It is our goal to remove barriers. Individuals and families can contact Safe Connect from anywhere and immediately receive a thorough assessment of needs, emotional support, safety planning and options. We offer direct connections to CCADV’s member organizations where you can receive ongoing, in-person support, as well as other community-based resources.

Interval House

Interval House provides 24-hour hotline(s), safety planning, crisis counseling, emergency safe housing, support groups, criminal and civil court advocacy, information and referrals, community education and outreach as well as programs for the children of clients.

Wheeler Clinic (Behavioral Health and Substance Abuse as well as Crisis Services)

Wheeler Clinic is a nonprofit with multiple locations and offers assessment, group therapy and medication therapy.

UCONN Psychiatric Services

The Adult Psychiatric Outpatient Services clinic at 10 Talcott Notch Road in Farmington offers evaluation and treatment of a wide range of psychiatric disorders for adults ages 18 and over, under the auspices of UConn John Dempsey Hospital. The clinic is handicapped accessible, offers free parking and is located in a modern office building just off the main UConn Health campus in Farmington. We provide essential psychiatric services for approximately 2,500 active patients (nearly 18,000 patient visits annually) who come from all over the state of Connecticut, as many as 75 percent of whom are insured by Medicare and/or Medicaid. We are therefore one of the larger public sector psychiatric clinics in the state. UConn John Dempsey Hospital is licensed by the Connecticut Department of Public Health and accredited by the Joint Commission.

Bristol Hospital Counseling Center and Bristol Hospital - Crisis Services (Emergency)

Since 1960, the Bristol Hospital Counseling Center has been committed to providing quality mental health and substance use recovery services to the greater Bristol community.  The highly trained, skilled professional therapists of Bristol Hospital's Counseling Center provide counseling to individual adults, couples and families who seek assistance for a wide variety of issues. Problems range from temporary difficulties to complex long-term problems that affect emotional and physical health. Requests for services are accepted directly from area residents or from physicians and other healthcare professionals.  Note: Evaluations in urgent/emergency situations are conducted in the Bristol Hospital Emergency Department by 'Crisis Services.'
